Cancellation Overview
The refund shown in your dashboard is calculated from the bookingβs current acceptance status and event date. These change-of-mind rules do not limit any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Awaiting Vendor Acceptance
The first 24 hours after checkout are the vendor response period. Customer self-cancellation is unavailable during this period. If booking details need correcting, contact Book The Party for assistance.
If the booking remains awaiting vendor acceptance after 24 hours, you may cancel it from your dashboard for a 100% refund. If the vendor declines, the booking is cancelled and a full refund is initiated.
More Than 30 Days
After vendor acceptance, cancellation more than 30 calendar days before the event receives a 100% refund.
8 to 30 Days
After vendor acceptance, cancellation from 8 to 30 calendar days before the event receives a 50% refund. The remaining 50% is the cancellation charge.
7 Days or Less
After vendor acceptance, cancellation 7 calendar days or less before the event does not receive a change-of-mind refund.
How to Cancel
Use the Cancel Booking button in your customer dashboard when it becomes available. The dashboard shows the applicable percentage before you confirm. During the 24-hour vendor response period, or whenever the button is unavailable, contact info@booktheparty.com.au for assistance.
Refund Processing
The cancellation percentages apply to the booking charge excluding any refundable bond. If the event has not occurred, a refundable bond is returned in full in addition to the applicable cancellation refund.
Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method. We initiate automatic refunds promptly, but your bank or payment provider controls when the funds appear. If an automatic refund fails, the booking is flagged for manual review.
Vendor Cancellation and Consumer Rights
A vendor cannot replace these platform cancellation tiers with different terms for a booking made through Book The Party. Vendor failure, significant service problems, misleading descriptions and other issues may give you additional remedies. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
