Who We Are
Book The Party operates an Australian online marketplace that connects customers with independent party and event vendors. In this policy, βweβ, βusβ and βBook The Partyβ refer to the operator of booktheparty.com.au.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the platform, we may collect:
- account and contact details, including name, email address, telephone number and password credentials;
- booking information, including event date, time, venue address, notes, selected services and messages;
- vendor business, payout, compliance, insurance and Working With Children Check information, where relevant;
- payment and transaction information. Card details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored in full by Book The Party;
- listings, images, reviews, support requests and other content you submit; and
- technical information such as IP address, browser, device, cookie and usage information.
We collect information directly from you, through your use of the website, from vendors and customers involved in the same booking, and from service providers that help us operate payments, communications, fraud prevention and the website.
How We Use Information
We use personal information to create and secure accounts, operate listings and bookings, calculate service areas and fees, process payments and refunds, communicate about bookings, review vendor compliance, prevent misuse, provide support, meet legal and accounting obligations, and improve the platform.
Who We Share Your Data With
We disclose information only where reasonably required for the platform or by law. This may include:
- vendors: before acceptance, a vendor receives the customerβs first name, booking selections, event timing, booking value and general event area. After acceptance, the vendor receives the contact details, exact venue and notes needed to fulfil the booking;
- customers: vendor and listing information required to assess and manage a booking;
- service providers: website hosting, WooCommerce payment processing, email delivery, mapping/address services, security, backups, analytics and professional advisers; and
- authorities or other parties: where required by law, to protect rights and safety, investigate fraud, resolve a dispute, or as part of a business transfer.
We do not sell personal information. Customers and vendors must use booking information only for the relevant booking and must not use it for unsolicited marketing.
Cookies and Technical Data
We use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in, account security, carts, preferences and essential website functions. Third-party content and services may set their own cookies under their privacy policies. You can restrict cookies in your browser, but parts of the platform may stop working.
Images and User Content
Public listing images and reviews may be visible to website visitors. Do not upload material containing personal information you do not want made public. Images may contain metadata; remove unnecessary location metadata before uploading. You must have permission to upload content featuring other people.
Overseas Disclosure
Some technology providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where their infrastructure operates. Countries can change as providers change. We take reasonable steps appropriate to the service and applicable law when engaging providers that handle personal information.
Security and Retention
We use access controls and other reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No internet service is completely secure. We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for bookings, support, fraud prevention, legal, tax and accounting requirements, dispute resolution and enforcement, after which it is deleted or de-identified where practicable.
Access, Correction and Complaints
You may update available profile information in your dashboard or contact us to request access to or correction of personal information. You may also ask us to delete information, subject to information we must retain by law or for legitimate administration, security and dispute purposes.
To make a privacy complaint, email info@booktheparty.com.au with enough information for us to investigate. We will acknowledge and respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
